Coldstream tip run or a skip bin?

By our arithmetic, a level 6x4 trailer holds about 0.86 m³ (loaded to 0.4 m), so a 4 m³ skip’s worth of rubbish is four to five trailer loads: $660 to $825 in Coldstream gate fees at $165.00 a load, before fuel and the return trips. Green waste is much cheaper to tip, at $63.00 a level trailer.

Against that, Yarra Valley Skip Bins publishes $595 for a 4 m³ skip with a light mixed load up to 1.0 tonne and a standard 3-day hire, and $495 for a 4 m³ skip of 100% green waste or timber. Prices differ between companies: see skip bin hire cost.
